Leadership
"A leader is best when people barely know he exists; not so good when
people obey and acclaim him; worst when they despise him. But a good
leader who talks little when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they
will say ' we did it ourselves'." - Chinese philosopher Sun-Tsu
A Boy Scout troop is a small democracy. The
boys are formed into patrols, plan the troop's program and make it a
reality. In order for that to happen, a troop relies upon Scouts
serving in positions of responsibility. The key boy leaders of the
troop make the patrol leaders' council. They are the senior
patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leaders and troop
guides of any new-scout patrols.
Leadership within the troop is not to be taken lightly.
Undertaking a leadership position is a commitment and a responsibility.
Leadership is earned not granted. Only Scouts who have shown a strong
dedication to the troop and have displayed strong Scout Spirit will be
considered for leadership. Being in a leadership position means
being at involved at every meeting and every outing as well as
maintaining the standards of the Troop. The responsibilities
